Curves in our Spines with Fused not Fragile

Join anatomist Fanny Simpson from Fused not Fragile to explore spinal anatomy from both a scientific and lived perspective. Learn about how scoliosis affects the spine and body and meet others living with scoliosis and spinal fusion. 

Hosted at the Hunterian Museum, the event includes a private view of the Museum featuring the display of a 200-year-old human spine with kyphoscoliosis (curvature of the spine in two directions) from the Hunterian Museum collections, introduced by Museum Director, Dawn Kemp.  

Whether recently diagnosed or living with scoliosis for many years, the event offers an opportunity to spend time with others with scoliosis and spinal fusion, exchange experiences, ask questions and make connections. 

This event is exclusively for people with scoliosis and/or spinal fusion. Places are free but limited.

About Fanny Simpson   

Diagnosed with scoliosis at about 11 years old, Fanny had spinal fusion surgery at 13 and has now been fused for over a decade.  With a background in Biomedical Sciences and Human Anatomy with Education, Fanny approaches scoliosis and spinal fusion through both a scientific and lived lens.  

Fanny created Fused not Fragile as a space rooted in science, movement, and life beyond the curve, one that amplifies Black experiences of scoliosis while making room for other underrepresented voices to be seen and heard.
