Surgical skills taster workshop for families with SEND

Discover the Hunterian Museum and learn basic surgical skills. Offered to families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Suitable for 13+ only.

The Hunterian Museum's Surgical skills taster workshop for families with Special educational needs and disabilities provides a friendly and inclusive environment for families to explore the Museum. The Museum will be open from 10am to 11am exclusively to SEND families. 

The workshop starts at 11am and ends at 12.30pm. It takes  place in a dedicated room on the Ground floor and is facilitated by a retired surgeon. 

It includes :

  • Gloving and gowning up
  • Surgical knot tying demonstration and practice
  • Practicing basic suturing skills
  • Talking with a retired or consultant surgeon

Maximum 1 ticket per family/carer. Ticket price is £20 per family. 1 ticket includes 1 child (13+) and 1 adult. Ticket are £20 + booking fee. This includes material for both participants.
