The sensory backpack has been made with care to support people who need some sensory support or different ways of exploring the museum.

The backpack is plastic see through material with stripes. Inside each backpack there are fidget toys, sensory aids and things to help on your visit.

The sensory backpack contains the following items listed below.

1 x stethoscope

A stethoscope to hear your heartbeat

1x torch

A torch to see things in the dark

1x magnifying glass

A magnifying glass to look at things close up

1x voice recorder to record sound

A voice recorder to record sound

1 x Body Maps activity booklet and a pack of crayons

1 x Body Maps activity booklet and a pack of crayons in and take home

3x sensory toys

1x fidget toy that makes a sound when pressed

1x squishy toy in the form of an animal

1x fidget toy with different textures

1 x pair of ear defenders

A pair of ear defenders to make things quieter

1x visual story

The museum has a visual story for visitors to use before and during their visit to the museum. The visual story guides you through what to expect at the museum, it includes both text and images. The visual story provides information about access, touchable objects and where to find staff.
